storylines: Tim Hayles |
Tim, most people at The Point will recognise you as one of the people who keeps things organised on Sunday mornings, how did you first start come to the point ?
- After doing the Alpha course at HTB in London, I wanted to find a church which was based on their style of service and close to where I lived. I rang around a couple of churches and after speaking to someone in Lindfield, they suggested The Point would be the church that sounded right and I joined in July 2006.
Tell us a about your journey of faith so far
. -I was confirmed at school, but then had nothing to do with the church until just over 2 years ago, when a good friend asked whether I would like to do the Alpha course. I said to them that I had never even heard of the course, let alone know what it was all about. I decided to sign up for the course in May 2006 and could not believe that over 700 people were attending the course. I was taken to join a group of 16 people, and for the next ten weeks not only did I realise that I wanted Christianity to be my life, but also half the group have become firm friends. My time at the point has always been so fulfilling, not only spiritually but also for the friendship and fellowship, and to have the opportunity each week to serve both the church and the lord.
What do you do when you are not keeping us all in order at The Point
- I am a building surveyor based in London, but have to travel to all parts of the uk as part of my job. I play cricket mid week at Cuckfield, am a life long Chelsea fan, enjoy walking, and the odd glass of wine.
What's TGIF ?
-
Thank Goodness Its Friday is a purpose group set up for adult members of the church to have the chance to get together in a social environment, relax and chat and hopefully allow friendships to develop. We meet at a local restaurant on the second Friday of the month, and new members are always welcome.
How can people get involved with TGIF
-
Contact me and I will add their name to the mailing list.
Thanks Tim, one last word of wisdom to change the world..........
Believe.
