giving to the point

Thank you for taking the time to consider supporting The Point financially. The Point is a church where we love to give. Generosity is one of our key values and we try to express it in everything we do.

Giving money is only one of the many ways that people contribute to the life of the church, but it is an important way. We are self-funding and depend on committed regular giving to do what we do. There are many costs involved in what we do (venue hire, equipment, staffing costs, materials for youth and children’s ministry, and coffee! all cost money). Please contact the church office if you would like to see a copy of our most recent accounts.

But our goal is not simply to cover our costs, we seek to be as generous as we can to those in need outside our church, both locally and globally. We do know that Jesus has given us a special responsibility to care for the poor and the oppressed, and we take that very seriously. In the last year we have given to Tearfund, Off the Fence, and a group working in the slums in Mumbai, India. We have also been able to offer support to those facing crisis in our own church community.

The bible teaches us that each one should consider before God what to give and give it cheerfully. That is why we don’t generally take ‘collections’ at our gatherings but rather expect people to think and pray about what they want to give and then bring a regular gift or make a standing order arrangement with the bank. We should give according to how much God has given us, how much money and how much faith. Please ask the Holy Spirit how He wants to use you in this area of financial giving. Jesus promises that as you give, it will be given to you. And it is my prayer that as you give you will indeed receive God’s blessing and provision in new and unexpected ways.

Financial giving is also a really important act of worship. It is, in fact, a way of showing our love for God, and often a significant step into spiritual maturity.

Thanks again for your generosity, Yours in Christ,

Will Kemp (Vicar of The Point)

We are in the process of changing our bank account and charitable status. Forms for standing orders and gift aid will be available shortly.
